Why Choose a Renewable Energy System

Everyone needs a certain amount and some sort of energy for lightning, heating in the winter and cooling in the summer, for transportation, to power all sorts of machines such as washing machines, computers, cookers, televisions etc. Modern life is unimaginable without all the technologies which make people's lives easier - all require energy to function. A car doesn't move without fuel, while household appliances don't work without electricity.

Population growth, especially in developing countries, results in greater global demands for energy, while conventional energy sources, eg fossil fuels, are available in a finite amounts. For that reason their prices will rise with the rise in demand for energy.

The only alternatives to conventional energy sources are renewable sources and nuclear power, which could also be considered renewble energy. Currently the high installation costs of renewable energy systems prevent the being taken up in large numbers.

Renewable energy systems do pay for themselves over a number of years, and as the current trend of rising fuel prices continues the payback period for the inital investment becomes shorter - advances in renewable energy technology also reduce the payback period. Additionally, many governments promote renewable energy systems with subsidies, grants and tax breaks.

Besides the financial benefits, those who chose renewable energy also contribute to the reduction of global warming as well as becoming, at least to a certain degree, independent from energy price rises.
